In case you hadn't twigged, the essays on this site are intended as parodies. The idea is to take a valid basic premise and stretch it far beyond breaking point. This is not supposed to be of the slightest help to students who haven't read the books, but should provide entertainment and perhaps even food for thought for the real fan.

If you fancy writing a review on these lines, go for it. It's a lot of fun. If it's for a book not yet covered here and you would like to see it included on this site, then by all means send it in.

Rules:

  1. Please let me know what book you're aiming for and what line you'll be taking, before sending the essay; this is in case I'm working on my own version for that book at the time, in which case I would probably prefer not to see yours just yet.
  2. Essays should be between 400 and 800 words long.
  3. Any factual information included should be correct. There's a clear line between being unhelpful and outright lying: the aim is to baffle, not mislead. Abusing literary terms and theories, on the other hand, is fine.
  4. I reserve the right to edit submissions or to request revisions before publishing them on this site; if you object to the editing, I won't publish it.
  5. All essays must be signed, though not necessarily with a real name.
  6. There is naaaah rule 6.
  7. 'Discworld' and related words are trademarks of Terry Pratchett. This does not in any way preclude you from reviewing or satirising the books.
